Craft group and quilting group are an active part of women's fellowship. Annie Lewis is coordinator of the craft group. The craft workers are making 500 neck pillows that will be stuffed with a preferred filler that can be washed and dried. These will be given to the six oncology facilities in our area for their patients to use as they sit in the recliners to receive chemotherapy. The women designed a sewn label that reads "Blessings from UCC Church, Tavares, FL". The ladies donated the fabric for this project.
The Caring Quilters, coordinated by Marilyn Cimmerer, continues to make small 40x40 quilts for the children in the Guardian Ad-Litem program in Lake Sumpter and Marion Counties. This project has continued for several years.
Both of these groups are very active and have breakfast on the 2nd Monday of each month at Zacs in downtown Tavares. Anyone with an interest in these activities is welcome.
